Alice in Wonderland Puppet Show March 30

Bring your kids ages 3 and up to enjoy a musical puppet show at the library this spring break. Jeannie McQueenie and friends present "Alice in Wonderland" on Friday, March 30 at 10:30 am at Oak Park Public Library, 834 Lake Street. Free tickets for this event will be available at the library beginning March 19.

“The puppets are nearly life-size, and kids will be invited up on stage to dance and drink tea,” explains children’s librarian Jennifer Norborg. “We’re excited to bring this production to Oak Park. This family-friendly musical version of the Lewis Carroll classic is the perfect way to introduce kids to Alice and her amazing adventures."

Jeannie McQueenie presents a unique treatment of this Lewis Carroll favorite. One lazy afternoon Alice finds herself chasing a rabbit down a rabbit hole. She ends up in a very strange and unusual place where animals talk and a Mad Hatter has a tea party. All of our favorite characters are brought to life in this one-of-a-kind, puppet stage adaption, featuring live, original music.

Adult fans of Alice in Wonderland will enjoy Alice I Have Been, written by Melanie Benjamin. Oak Park Public Library’s genre X group will be discussing this fictional account of Alice’s life, from inspiring the wonderland character through old age, on Tuesday, March 27 at 8 pm at Molly Malone’s, 7652 Madison Street, Forest Park. Jeannie McQueenie has worked extensively with young people, including the four children of her own she has raised. She has worked as director of children’s theatre at the Beverly Arts Center, received a grant to bring her original Shakespeare outreach program to schools throughout the Chicagoland area, and works professionally as an actress and model on stage and on camera.
