Envision the future at Day in our Village!

all ages visited our booth at Day in our Village 2011

Drop by our booth to tell us what’s in your future. We want to help you meet your goals and be ready to serve your future needs. Have fun and win prizes as you help us envision the future! Day in our Village is on Sunday, June 3 from 11 am to 6 pm in Scoville Park, just outside the Main Library.

Your world is changing--so we are, too! Oak Park Public Library's core values, meanwhile, are not changing. We will always be here for Oak Park to help equalize, care, innovate, and lead. We're challenging our staff to learn and innovate new ways of meeting your changing needs. And we need you, Oak Park, to help us create that future. We want to engage your talents, experiment, and meet your expectations. If anybody can rise to the challenge, we can!

What will the citizens of Oak Park need from the library during the next 5, 10, or 20 years? We want to be responsive to community needs as they arise, yet also be proactive in understanding what the future will bring and how we can be prepared and ready to serve.

Oak Park Public Library has been engaged for several months in thinking about our future. As part of this planning project, our trustees are meeting with educational, civic, cultural, business, and other organizations in Oak Park to discuss organizational goals and how the library can help.

This summer, the Library Board of Trustees will hold its annual planning retreat. Information gleaned from these community meetings, Day in our Village, and other conversations will inform our future plans. So, help Spark our future!

I'm hoping that someone from OPALGA will be a part of your conversations. Gender issues seem to me to be one of the priority areas of change.

Hi Mel. Yes, library trustees are planning on meeting with OPALGA to discuss the organization's goals for the future and how the library can be of assistance. Looking forward to seeing you and others from OPALGA at Day in our Village.
