Explore “Heart” Designs in Origami with Yvonne Edwards January 12

Long-time Oak Park resident Yvonne Edwards loves finance and math. That’s one reason she was intrigued by Japanese arts, particularly the art of paper folding known as origami. On Thursday, January 12 at 2 pm, Edwards will offer a free introductory class in origami at the Oak Park Public Library, 834 Lake Street. She’ll explore some “heart” designs you might turn into Valentines. Materials are provided and refreshments will be served.

As an origami hobbyist, Yvonne Edwards finds that concentrating on creating origami designs relieves stress, relaxes, and brings a smile when it all comes together. This class will review the history of origami and the story of The 1000 Cranes.

Edwards grew up in Chicago and moved to Oak Park several decades ago. She studied at Chicago Teachers College and the University of Illinois- Champaign. After working years in corporate finance, Edwards now teaches business planning and Microsoft Office certificate classes at Triton College in River Grove.
