About The Fifty Year Sword
Mark Z. Danielewski, best-selling author of House of Leaves, has crafted a powerfully chilling novella – a ghost story for grown-up readers. The Guardian describes The Fifty Year Sword as “a genuinely scary chiller, a satire on the business of criticism and a meditation on the way we read.”

The Fifty Year Sword was first published in 2005 by De Bezige Bij, a small Dutch publisher. Danielewski has performed it on Halloween for two years running at Los Angeles’ REDCAT. This fall The Fifty Year Sword is being published for the first time in the United States with a first printing of 75,000.
