Library Closed Friday, December 2 for Staff Day
The Oak Park Public Library closes one day a year for staff development. The Main Library, Dole Branch, and Maze Branch will be closed to the public on Friday, December 2, 2011 for Staff Day. The Parking Garage at the Main Library will also be closed to the public. This year, to prepare for a new strategic planning process, Staff Day will inspire staff to take chances and pursue innovation.
"We are extremely conscious that our Staff Day closing impacts our community and therefore we aim to make the most of the time available to us for staff development," states Deirdre Brennan, Executive Director of the Oak Park Public Library. "We use this time to make our library the best it can be for the Oak Park community."
The 2011 Staff Day will take place at the Main Library which will be closed to the public. Both the Dole Branch and Maze Branch Libraries will also be closed so that every staff member will be able to attend Staff Day.
Library items due on Friday, December 2 can be returned to any of the Oak Park Public Library book returns. Curbside book returns are located at the Dole Branch, Maze Branch, and Village Parking Lot 55 on North Boulevard in Oak Park. All three curbside book returns are open 24 hours. Additionally, a book return on the exterior of the Main Library, to the north of the main entrance, is also open 24 hours.
The Oak Park Public Library's current Strategic Plan commits Library staff to seeking new knowledge and skills. The Learning Organization Strategic Initiative recognizes that in order to provide the best possible library services, staff need to sustain a strong sense of community and shared purpose.
