Oak Park Writers Group presents “Writers Read!” Nov. 8

Come hear members of the Oak Park Writers Group read selections of their original works including poetry, short stories, and essays. Mary Anne Mohanraj, author of Bodies in Motion and other titles, and Mary Lou Edwards, author of Look Back, but Don’t Stare and other titles, will be two of the featured readers. The event is free and open to the public.

The Oak Park Writers Group will present their annual “Writers Read!” event on Thursday, November 8 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Main Library. The group includes novice writers as well as published authors. The winners of the 2012 Oak Park Writers Group high school poetry and prose competition will also read their winning selections. Christopher J. Calhoun won first place in the prose division with his short story “Peer Pressure.” Winner of the poetry division is Ian Buckley with his poem “Pants, Sweet Pants.”

Keystrokes III, the third anthology published by the Oak Park Writers Group, features original works by members of the group as well as the winning high school selections from the prose and poetry contest. It will be available for sale at “Writers Read!” Refreshments will be served.

About Oak Park Writers Group
The Oak Park Writers Group meets the first Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 9:00 pm at the Main Library. At each meeting, writings by the attendees are read and critiqued. Writers and non-writers alike are welcome.

The Oak Park Writers Group also sponsors an open mic at the Eastgate Café, 102 E. Harrison Street in Oak Park, on the second Sunday of each month from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Poets, storytellers, acoustic musicians, comedians, playwrights, singers, and dancers are all welcome to perform.
