Spark

What is Spark all about?

Spark is the future-focused and community-driven launch pad for our new strategic planning adventure, which will be developed this year.

The basic ideas:

  1. Your world is changing--so we are, too!
  2. The Oak Park Public Library's core values, meanwhile, are not changing. We will always be here for Oak Park to help equalize, care, innovate, and lead.
  3. The change will be in how we provide some services to you. Fortunately, we fit right in with this community, which has always been good at learning how to do things differently.
  4. We're challenging our staff to learn and innovate new ways of meeting your changing needs. And we need you, Oak Park, to help us create that future.
  5. We want to engage your talents, experiment, and meet your expectations. If anybody can rise to the challenge, we can!

Spark in Context

With Spark, Oak Park Public Library is creating a new strategic plan for 2013 and beyond. At Staff Day 2011, library administrators reflected on past accomplishments and discussed the upcoming planning adventure.

How can community members get involved?

We're looking for volunteers! Spark Project Volunteers will work with library staff on this transformative project to redesign library services to create a 21st century public library.

What we'll ask you to do:

  • Provide input to library staff on tech trends
  • Share tech skills with library staff and patrons
  • Partner with library staff in community outreach activities
  • Give us at least 2 hours per week

Interested? Complete the volunteer application and return to any library location.
