Join us in “Celebrating Seniors Week” as we honor, recognize and serve seniors in our community. Enjoy these free events at Main Library, which offers an onsite, underground parking garage, free for the first two hours, and elevator access. - Film: The Bucket List, Monday, May 20, 2 to 4 pm, Main Library. Join local film enthusiast Doug Deuchler and watch a free screening of The Bucket List, featuring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman as two terminally ill men who escape from a cancer ward and head off on a road trip. They travel with a wish list of to-dos. (2007)
- Finding the Right Path to Aging Gracefully, Thursday, May 23, 1 to 3 pm, Main Library. Learn some new ideas for healthy living with Dr. Sheila A. Dugan, MD. With specialties in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as preventive medicine, Dugan has helped patients age gracefully through appropriate physical activity and healthy habits. She also focuses on community-based research projects dedicated to making people less sedentary and stressed.
- Improve Your Memory, Thursday, May 16, 2 to 3:30 pm, Main Library. Learn key tips for improving your short-term memory with Dr. Burton Fischman. An octogenarian who earned his certification as a personal trainor on his 80th birthday, Fischman uses his considerable talents as a former standup comedian to help seniors learn new ways to improve memory and gain confidence.
