Storywalk at Cheney Mansion

Visit StoryWalk at Cheney Mansion

We've teamed with the Park District of Oak Park to bring you StoryWalk® at Cheney Mansion. Perfect for families, caregivers, teachers, and all picture book lovers, StoryWalk transforms the pages of Oh, No! by local author Candace Fleming and award-winning illustrator Eric Rohmann into a reading adventure on a trail, combining physical activity with literacy. This month-long special event kicks off with an opening reception and refreshments at 10 am Saturday, Sept. 7. Take a stroll through Oct. 5 at Cheney Mansion, 220 N. Euclid Ave., Oak Park, whenever grounds are open. Learn more about StoryWalk ›

Current Happenings

Oct. 5, let's celebrate!

Please save the date (and night) to help us celebrate two library milestones: 10 years in the current Main Library building and 110 years as a public library in Oak Park. Daytime activities at all library locations as well as a Jim Gill concert in Scoville Park. An after-hours party will feature performances by The Boogers and R-Gang, an Instagram scavenger hunt, complimentary appetizers and a cash bar for beer and wine. Early fall storytimes

Laugh it up, improv style

Join us for a special night of improvisational theater, Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 pm, as performers from the Kid and Teen Improv Workshops ham-it-up onstage at Maze in a special Improv Showcase. It's fun, funny and all are welcome. If you have a good laugh and think improv may be right for you too, attend an upcoming workshop, offered for kids, teens and adults. Op Art & more for teens

Know a teen who loves optical illusions or can't put down their drawing pencil? They'll love Op Art Cubes. At 7 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 10, teens 13+ will make their own cubes at Maze Branch Library. Plenty of school year events are back at the Main Library too: Teen Open Mic night resumes on the third Friday of each month, and Open Gaming provides after-school fun on weekdays. The fall promises many more crafts and activities for teens at all locations. Follow the teen website for details ›
