This pie baking contest is open to bakers of all skill levels, including teams, on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Main Library. Bakers and their pies should arrive by 1 pm for judging. Doors open to the public at 2:30 pm for a tasting of the entries while slices last. Winners will be announced by 3:30 pm.

A library panel of expert judges features: Amy Cavanaugh, dining, food, and travel writer; Carol Hilker, author of the new cookbook "Pie Pops"; and Megan Miller, pastry chef and co-owner of Bang Bang Pie Shop. Judges will rate each pie on taste, appearance, and creativity, and prizes will be awarded for Best Taste, Best Appearance, and Best Overall.
