My Thrilling Summer
Published by Martha on Sat, 09/29/2012 - 4:02pmHi! I’m Martha, and I was the Main Library’s summer reading program intern this year, Reading Is A Thrill!
This was my first summer with the Library, helping out and hanging out with you guys, and I had so much fun. I want to thank the entire Children’s Services department—everyone taught me so much about all the fun and hard work that goes into an SRP.

I loved asking kids what their favorite book of the summer was—everyone said something different (okay, hee, a lot of you said Diary of a Wimpy Kid):
- “The Hobbit because I’m really looking forward to the movie.” --Evan
- “I can’t pick!” --Cody
- “Matilda, because I like reading so much, too.” --Logan
- “I just started the second Mysterious Benedict Society book. I really love mysteries and the first one was so good.” --Brady
- “Pinkalicious! She turns pink because she eats too many cupcakes, and it’s super funny.” --Anna
- “I really liked Magyk, the first Septimus Heap book, and I’m going to buy the second one today.” --Lucy
- “The Little House on the Prairie books have been so great.” --Aleah
Oh, and what’s my favorite? It’s hard to choose just one! But I think I’d have to go with Fablehaven by Brandon Mull, because I love the combination of mystery and fantasy. I can’t wait to read the next books in the series.
