President Franklin D. Roosevelt promoted film as a key war industry which showcased heroism, selflessness and the need for co-operation. Watch the conflicts among a motley crew of Army nurses who are stationed in Bataan at the time of the Japanese invasion in this 1943 film. Oak Park film historian Doug Deuchler leads discussion.

Looking for a reality check on Roller Derby? Come find out about Roller Derby culture, attraction, history and evolution. Local derby players provide insight into both how to play and how to watch - including written reflection of firsthand experiences, film clips and vibrant Q&A opportunities.

Presenters include:

Erica Cuneen: Erica skates for Chicago Outfit Roller Derby league as "Busty Broke'Her #4" and is writing a book about her Derby experience.

Nicole Matos: Nicole represents Chicago Outfit, competing as "Nicomatose #DOA".

Great Magazine Giveaway

Help us reduce, reuse and recycle the library's old magazines. We put out boxes of past issues for you to peruse, and take home what you want.

All magazines are free, and available to everyone on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last, through Sunday, March 3. What's not given away by Monday will be recycled.

So be sure to bring those reusable shopping bags, and thanks for your help in keeping us green.
