Illinois Regiments in the Civil War

Learn the important role that Illinois soldiers played in fighting for the Union in the Civil War. Civil War re-enactors Brian and Daniel Flora re-count the stories about the men from this state and the battles they fought to preserve the union. The Library offers this special program which includes photographs and lecture in collaboration with the Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest.

Gallery Artists: Oak Park Photography Club

See photographs from more than 20 local photographers of the Oak Park Photography Club in the Library Gallery through September. The Gallery is open seven days a week during regular Library hours.

The Oak Park Photography Club, founded in January 2004, welcomes photographers of all skill levels to their meetings in the Oak Park Public Library on the second and fourth Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m.

Gallery Artists: Tom Burtonwood and Holly Holmes

Oak Park artists Tom Burtonwood and Holly Holmes present “Multiplicity,” a new exhibit based on the geometry and patterning they have found in the residential architecture of Oak Park. The exhibit will be shown in the Oak Park Public Library Gallery from July 2 through July 30. This is the first two-person collaborative project between Burtonwood and Holmes since 2008. A reception for the artists will be Sunday, July 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Gallery at the Oak Park Public Library, 834 Lake Street. The exhibit is open during regular library hours. The Library is closed July 4.
