Artist Jill Kramer: "Landscape Reinterpreted"
Monday, December 2, 2013 - 12:00am

Local artist Jill Kramer will display new paintings in her ‘Landscape Reinterpreted’ exhibit at the Oak Park Public Library Art Gallery from Dec. 2 to Dec. 30. A reception for the artist will be Sunday, Dec. 15, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Art Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

“My interest in landscape and nature has been an evolving artistic pursuit for many years.,” explains Kramer. “While drawn to pattern, texture and use of color, these most recent mono-prints began as a series of quick, simple negative lines drawn onto a plate of ink. I chose to focus on the mark made on the page while drawing the landscape in front of me. When printed with various colors and put together in different combinations, each monoprint becomes a new interpretation of the original drawing.”

Jill Kramer received her MA in Art Education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her BFA in printmaking & book arts from Kent State University. She has been teaching for over 15 years in both museums and community art settings and has facilitated
programs for preschoolers to seniors.

Jill Kramer is the Art Start Coordinator for the Oak Park Education Foundation and the General Manager of Water Street Studios in Batavia, Illinois. Her artistic practice focuses on landscape and environment through various relief print methods. This talented artist has exhibited her work in Illinois, Ohio, Maine, Texas and Mexico.
