Oak Park Artist Marion Sirefman will have an exhibit titled Journeys in the Oak Park Public Library Gallery through August 2 through Aug. 30. A reception for the artist will be Sunday, Aug. 4, from 3 to 5 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.
Marion Sirefman, BFA, has lived in Oak Park since 1984. She studied fine art in a magnet high school in NYC and received a BFA at University of Chicago. While raising a family, working first as an artifact illustrator, then in early childhood education settings, and as an investigator for the state licensing agency, she regularly continued to explore her creative urges and visions.
Sirefman mostly focuses on natures beauty and patterns, finding expression in a variety of media: watercolors, acrylic, decorative paper collage, and stained glass mosaic. Since retiring in 2011, she has been able to devote more time to developing her art. The Journeys exhibit focuses on her recent work. The title refers to both to her actual journeys to beautiful areas of the world which inspired her, as well as her journey as an artist.
