Author Event: Doug Deuchler with "Legendary Locals of Oak Park"
Saturday, October 12, 2013 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Meet Oak Park author Doug Deuchler and see what local "stars" are included in his newly published "Legendary Locals of Oak Park" book.
Part of a new series by Arcadia Publications, his book features 126 noteworthy Oak Parkers, from past and present, from writers and restaurant owners to mobsters and movie stars. It includes several hundred illustrations, many of which have never been previously published. These villagers lived and worked during the early years of Oak Park history to contemporary times. The special author program is a collaboration with the Historical Society of Oak Park & River Forest.

Oak Park resident Douglas Deuchler, a long-time educator, journalist, theater reviewer, and tour guide, teaches film history courses at several Chicago area colleges. He has written five other Arcadia books: Oak Park in Vintage Postcards, Maywood, Berwyn, Cicero Revisited, and The Brookfield Zoo. Deuchler serves as a board member for the Friends of the Oak Park Public Library and has hosted many film series at the Oak Park Public Library over the past 10 years.
