Through diaries, letters, photographs and more, the author and current resident of Highclere Castle (where the series is filmed), the Countess of Carnarvon takes us on a journey through one family's history. Girls Outside the Box: "A Girl's Life"

"A Girl's Life" explores 21st Century challenges for teen girls including bullying, social stress and media messages. What does it mean to be a girl in 2014? Women experience gender-based discrimination and violence, and are bombarded with negative messages about not living up to the female "ideal." Through film, activities and discussion, adolescent girls will explore gender roles and stereotypes and develop tools to successfully navigate the challenges of being a young woman in the 21st Century. Ages 13+.

Seed Hunting Workshop with Grow Studio

Get in touch with our natural surroundings as Grow Studio takes us on a seed hunt at the library! Track down and learn how to identify the variety of seeds found just outside our doors. Then make a living piece of art by designing a seed quilt patch to plant at home. Ages 6+. Registration with Oak Park Public Library card necessary.
