Girls Outside the Box: "Codes of Gender" - CANCELED DUE TO ILLNESS

“Codes of Gender” explores how the use of the body in advertising influences ideas about masculinity and femininity. What does it mean to be a girl in 2014? Women experience gender-based discrimination and violence, and are bombarded with negative messages about not living up to the female "ideal." Through film, activities and discussion, adolescent girls will explore gender roles and stereotypes and develop tools to successfully navigate the challenges of being a young woman in the 21st Century. Ages 13+.
