What I do at the library: I work primarily at Dole Branch, where I love conversing with patrons, facilitating various programs, getting silly in storytime, laughing with my co-workers, and dancing with my Wednesday after-school crowd.
How I turn outward in my everyday work: I help implement our children's programs at the branches. Through doing this, I have been working to really listen to what our youth need and want, whether they are big planned-out events or spur-of-the-moment pop-up programs.
My favorite "hidden library gem": It is not really hidden, but I would have to say the Dole Branch. Almost every week, a new patron walks through the doors and says, "I've never been here before!" I absolutely love Dole, from the quotes on the ceiling to the wonderful patrons who help create the warmth that reverberates through the walls of the building.
My favorite thing about Oak Park: The people!
What I’m reading, listening to, and watching now: I am rereading the Harry Potter series. (I tend to do this every year and I always find new things to love.) I listen to a constant mix of music on my iPod. Some of our fourth- and fifth-grade patrons are always convincing me of new songs to download. (The latest was the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack...thanks, Cate!) At this exact moment I am watching an episode of Girls. I also enjoy Modern Family, Arrow, The Flash, New Girl...and so many more.
