What I do at the library: I am currently the Arts and Culture Librarian, and am adding Reader’s Advisory to my bag of tricks. So feel free to stop by the service desks on the Main Library's second and third floor, and we can chat about books. But don’t let it stop there! We can also talk about recommendations for television, movies, and music. Think of me as your entertainment advisor.
How I turn outward in my everyday work: I get to turn outward by helping connect people to information on a regular basis. Whether it’s through programs or time at the desk, it is great helping customers find what they’re looking for and learning about what they need from us in return.
My favorite "hidden library gem": The artwork throughout the libraries is one of my favorite hidden gems. We have the art gallery, but we also have permanent pieces on display at all of our locations. There is also the aMAZEing art program at the Maze Branch. Next time you’re in the building, take a look around and you’ll notice some beautiful pieces.
My favorite thing about Oak Park: As many could tell you, I’m a food lover. So I love all of our restaurant staples, along with the many new restaurants that have been popping up in the area. I also love all of the beautiful houses and structures that I get to see during my walks around town.
What I’m reading, listening to, and watching now: I am currently reading Modern Lovers by Emma Straub and The Nest by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney. I am an avid TV watcher, and can often be heard discussing the latest episodes. I am currently watching Penny Dreadful, Game of Thrones, Mr. Robot, Outlander … the list could go on and on. So much to watch and so little time.
