What I do at the library: I work part-time as a Library Assistant. You'll find me helping people mostly in the Main Library lobby, but I help out in all areas of the Main Library as well as at Dole Branch and Maze Branch. I am lucky to be able to provide excellent customer service no matter where I am working.
How I turn outward: I turn outward by always engaging with my community. Whether I'm helping a patron at a desk or at a self-checkout kiosk, I make sure to always remain approachable. I don't want patrons to leave the library unhappy, or without answers; therefore, I always try and find solutions, even if they're not library related. Anyone who knows me knows that I am always here to help.
My favorite “hidden library gem”: All the amazing people who work at the library. My co-workers are always uplifting, supportive, and generally great people to be around.
Something I love about Oak Park: They say it takes a village to raise a child. Oak Park raised me, and has definitely helped me raise my son. That is what I love about Oak Park.
What I’m reading, listening, and watching right now: I am currently reading Fire Shut Up in My Bones by Charles M. Blow. I listen to different types of music, but love music that makes me want to dance, or whatever my 9-year-old likes. I am hooked on the TV show Shameless right now.
