Celebrate National Library Week with a special “Donuts with Dads” storytime at Oak Park Public Library. Join us on Saturday, April 14 at 10:00 am for a fantastic dinosaur-centric storytime and meet Danny’s Dinosaur! Bring your camera for what will be a stupendous photo opportunity! “Dinosaur Donuts with Dads” is best for ages 3 and up. Moms are also invited. No advanced registration is required. The fun begins at 10:00 am at the Main Library at 834 Lake Street.

“Donuts with Dads (Moms too!)” is a weekly Saturday storytime at Oak Park Public Library for children 2 to 6 years, with a caregiver. Enjoy books, songs, and snacks in a relaxed environment. Thanks to Oak Park’s Rotary Club and Red Hen for support and donations to make this storytime possible.

National Library Week will be observed April 8-14, 2012. First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries - school, public, academic and special - participate.

Oak Park Public Library regularly offers free storytimes for specific age groups from babies through second graders. Built around age-appropriate books and songs, library storytimes serve as an important step in developing literacy skills. After having fun and singing along at library storytimes, participants are urged to check out some books, movies, and music to take home. Library cards are available to all Oak Park residents free of charge. Children under the age of 18 must have their parent or guardian sign for their card.
