Monica Harris has been named Customer Service Manager at Oak Park Public Library. In this position, Monica will lead staff responsible for delivering outstanding front-line services, from welcoming new library cardholders and checking out library materials to improving services in the Main Library lobby. She will also be working with the library’s new Idea Box, a transformable space at the Main Library in which to engage the Oak Park community.
“Monica will lead our newly renamed department focused on the customer experience and delivering outstanding service,” explains Rebecca Teasdale, Assistant Director for Public Services and Programs. “Monica brings her background in customer service and supervision, as well as a proven track record of innovation to this position. I look forward to her bringing her vision, dedication, and leadership to the Customer Service team.”

In 2007 Monica Harris was hired as a librarian in Oak Park Public Library’s Adult and Teen Services department. Since 2009 she has served as Assistant Manager of that department. Monica has been a key player in numerous innovations at the library including our teen volunteer program, video game collection, genre X, gaming programming, noise zones, and staff rewards and recognition.
In 2010, Monica Harris was recognized as a Mover and Shaker by Library Journal. Previously, Monica held positions as a manager and a librarian in public libraries in Michigan as well as serving in supervisory roles in a large independent video store and a regional telemarketing firm. Monica holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Wayne State University.
Monica Harris will begin her new duties at Oak Park Public Library on April 9.
