Food for Thought: Baked and Baked Explorations
To help us joyfully wade through the backlog of recipes in our “to try” pile, we created Food For Thought, a quarterly cookbook discussion group. This quarter we’ll delve into Baked and Baked Explorations, two cookbooks by Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito. Make and bring your favorite recipe from either book to share at a discussion and tasting on Sunday, September 9 at 2:00 pm at the Main Library. Silence Is Golden film series
Want to escape from the world of cell phones, tablets, and 3D films? Join us as we head back to the days before the “talkies.” Our film series begins Wednesday, September 12 with Safety Last, a romantic comedy made in 1923 starring the death-defying Harold Lloyd. We’ll screen two other classics: on October 10 The General (a 1926 comedy starring Buster Keaton) and on November 14 City Lights (a 1931 comedy starring Charlie Chaplin). The series concludes on December 12 with The Artist, a 2011 romantic comedy about the transition from silent film to talkies. All four films will be shown at 1:30 pm at the Maze Branch Library.
