Donating Books for the Book Fair

We accept donations for the Annual Book Fair at any Oak Park Public Library location. Please bring donations to a Service Desk.

Books, records, videos, audiotapes, and other materials MUST be in sellable condition. We discourage donations of textbooks and condensed texts (such the Reader's Digest) as we will not re-sell them.

Volunteering at the Book Fair

Imagine! More than a 100,000 books to categorize! EAugust nough to keep us busy for months. Volunteer Book Sorters are needed for day or evening shifts for about a month before the Book Fair.

During the sale, Sale Volunteers are at the service of eager customers. Sale volunteers are composed of counters (people who bill customers) and cashiers. Others are in charge of restocking the rows of books throughout the sale. They help keep books moving from the tables. Book buyers can get very excited by this sale!

Once the sale is over, more help is needed to clear the high school cafeteria of any signs of the hurricane that swept over Oak Park.

Every year more than fifty volunteers participate in this exciting event. Does this sound like fun to you? Call the Friends at 708-445-6260 or 708-697-6930 and leave your name and number on our voicemail. Or email friends@oppl.org. We will be glad to enlist you in our army of volunteers.
