Adopt-a-Shelf Volunteers

Trained to monitor a section of the library's shelving to keep items in order and readily available for customers.
Location: Main Library

Computer Volunteers

Help library customers using public computers and printers. Basic knowledge of PCs, Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and Internet Explorer is necessary.
Location: Main Library

Administrative Volunteers (no openings)

Assist with a range of projects and tasks such as applying labels, entering data, cutting paper, and preparing mailings.
Location: Main Library

Branch Volunteers (no openings)

Assist with a variety of projects at one of our branch libraries. Responsibilities may include keeping books in order, sorting, and assisting with crafts.
Location: Dole Branch Library and Maze Branch Library

Children's Area Volunteers (no openings)

Assist with a variety of projects such as keeping books in order, making crafts, leading activities, helping with events, monitoring gaming, and assisting with homework problems.
Location: Main Library

Disc Cleaning Volunteers (no openings)

Trained to use a machine to return library DVDs and CDs to working condition.
Location: Main Library

Equipment Sorting Volunteers (no openings)

Assist by sorting and labeling computer equipment in the library’s Digital Services workroom.
Location: Main Library

File Management Volunteers (no openings)

Use file management software to help organize the library's administrative files.
Location: Main Library

Home Delivery Volunteers (no openings)

Help Oak Park Public Library cardholders who are physically unable to get to the library. Volunteers select and deliver library materials to customers receiving this service. Valid Illinois driver's license with automobile insurance is required for volunteer drivers. Learn more about our Home Delivery Service.

Item Finding Volunteers (no openings)

Retrieve library materials from staff-prepared lists.
Location: Main Library

Public Supplies Volunteers (no openings)

Keep public copiers and printers supplied with paper as well as paper and pencils available near the public catalog computers.

Publicity Volunteers (no openings)

Help promote all the library has to offer by distributing publicity materials to area locations.

Sale Book Boxing Volunteers (no openings)

Assist with the boxing of donated books.
