Pop-up libraries are collections you can access outside library buildings, in spaces where people already congregate. Our first one was installed this spring at the Park District of Oak Park’s Community Recreation Center, and we’re thrilled to add a second location!
Kids and families can find it at Wonder Works Children’s Museum, 6445 West North Ave., Oak Park.
“As the executive director of Wonder Works Children’s Museum, I am thrilled along with our entire team to host the Pop-Up Library in partnership with Oak Park Public Library!” says Wonder Works Executive Director Rachel Weber. “It embodies our shared commitment to foster a love of learning among children and families in our community.”
Sparking curiosity & creativity
“Every day, through our special programming we engage museum visitors with captivating storytimes,” Weber says. “This partnership has strengthened the information we provide to children with new and old book recommendations about so many topics including heritage months to give all children representation while reading!”
“This collaboration not only brings books and stories to life, it also strengthens our mission to spark curiosity and creativity in all children,” she adds.
The books in our pop-up libraries are meant to be enjoyed on site. There are no checkouts, and no library card is needed.
